AI Data Center National Day of Protest
July 18
We are protesting to call on local, state, and federal politicians to:
- 1 Protect our hometowns, our wallets, and our way of life.
- 2 End the corporate welfare, sweetheart deals, and taxpayer bailouts.
- 3 Take federal action to ensure no AI that threatens our security and liberty is built.

Town councils voted out. Officials recalled. Hard caps won on water, noise, and pollution. The American people are pushing back — and winning. Find your protest, or start one.

What data centers do to a community.
Secrecy
Project Accordion. Liames LLC. Project Tango. Codenames hide who's at the table — and what they've been promised.
Energy
Ratepayers — that's you — are footing the bill for an electricity demand boom you never voted for.
Water
Drinking water cools the servers. It evaporates, concentrating chemicals. Rates climb. Counties run dry.
Land Use
Classified as "light industrial." Rural towns are transformed into 5-mile construction sites. American heritage paved over.
Air Pollution
"Emergency" generators with no time limit. Chemicals structured to dodge protections. The fine print, weaponized.
Noise
Cooling and backup power run 24/7, often within the letter of the law. Local ordinances rarely apply.
National Security
AI data centers are becoming military targets. The people who live nearby will pay the price.
AI data centers are ground zero for Big AI imposing on our lives. The unaccountable build out of data centers, with no say from communities and significant local impacts, is an unacceptable infringement on our liberty. We do not support a national data center moratorium, or even state moratoria, but each community must be able to decide what sort of life they want for themselves, and whether or not to have a data center built in them.
This fight is about more than just the local impacts. It's about We the People standing up to Big AI. It's about fighting back against the dangers to our security and liberty that current AI development is bringing — the risks to our families, to our values, to our jobs and to our national security.
What dangers does AI pose?
Risks to children's safety
AI girlfriends and boyfriends. AI used to create deepfake child pornography. Children manipulated by AI systems into taking their own lives.
Mass Surveillance
All your data used to train AIs that can easily track and identify you. The end of privacy as we know it.
Domestic Terrorism
AI systems have been accused of talking people into — and aiding in — domestic terrorism and mass shootings. Students who would be alive if not for AI.
Replacing Jobs
The business model is based on taking jobs. Even the AI CEOs themselves say they aim to wipe out huge numbers of jobs in the next few years.
Threatening our values
AI integrated into schools, teaching our children to obey the values of AI companies, not their parents' values.
National Security Risks
Hacking critical infrastructure. Using AI as weapons of war. This is already happening. Soon, who knows what risks we'll face.
Losing control of AI systems
Even the companies themselves don't understand what they're building. Safety teams can't ensure we won't lose control of future AI systems entirely.
Catastrophic Risk
AI-enabled engineered pandemics. AI triggering an accidental nuclear strike. Or, much worse, if we lose control of superintelligent AI…
